The news article "Gastronomy that surprises and renews itself", written by the reporters Elisa Vaz and Tarso Sarraf and published in the printed newspaper in September 2021, was the winner of the state stage of the Sebrae Journalism Award 2022. The award was handed out in a ceremony last Wednesday (28) and the article, winner of the "Text" category, had also the collaboration of the journalists João Ramos, Renato Tavares, Camila Moreira, Daniel Nardin, Lorena Filgueiras, Lázaro Magalhães, Felipe Melo, and Cary John; all of whom also won 1st place for this work.
The award night had as master of ceremony the journalist Célia Pinho, and among the attractions, the presence of the Brazilian journalist, sociologist, writer, and screenwriter Francisco Dias Felitti, better known as Chico Felitti. He is the author of the podcast "A mulher da casa abandonada" (The Woman of the Abandoned House), which tells the story of Margarida Bonetti, and participated in a relaxed chat with the public.
"I receive this award happy, I'm a reporter of the economy sector and we deal with Sebrae [Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service] all the time and know how important entrepreneurship is for our region", said reporter Elisa Vaz. She recalled the trip she made to Santarém, in western Pará, to execute the report focusing on regional gastronomy in the district of Alter do Chão.
Elisa Vaz noted that "gastronomy is a strong sector in our economy and represents the culture of Pará, so receiving an award with a story like this, which represents our region, is important to me", said the journalist. In the execution of the report, the team visited a local woman who makes potato chips, pizza, and even brownies from Victoria Regia (an aquatic plant typical of the Amazon region), and even went to Casa Saulo, which has visibility throughout the country.
The acting superintendent of Sebrae, Cássia Costa, informed that a total of 53 works were submitted in the Award, the largest number of entries in the North Region. "We can only thank them. Journalists are our partners, because it is a link, our work would be nothing if we didn't have the disclosure that you do, telling the success stories of entrepreneurship," she said.
Cassia Costa added that the focus of the award was the resumption of economic activities after the critical phase of the pandemic. Sebrae's technical director, Fabrízio Guaglianone, highlighted the role of the press for the entity's work. "We have a very noble feeling for what we do for people's lives by supporting micro and small companies. You show this day-to-day and here we have a high-level press in the state," pointed out director Guaglianone.
Awards - This is the third time that the Liberal Amazon project receives a journalistic award in one year of circulation: the first was the Vladimir Herzog Award 2021, in the Photography category, with images by Tarso Sarraf, text by Cléo Soares, layout by Renato Tavares and editing by Daniel Nardin, Grupo Liberal's content director. The report whose images were awarded was published in the first edition of Liberal Amazon, entitled: "Amazon Paradox: 66% of the worst municipalities in Brazil are in the Amazon".
The second recognition of its kind was the Simineral Award, received in February this year. Reporters Ana Carolina Matos and ndria Almeida were awarded in the Printed Journalism category for their article "Mining in the Amazon: Investments in safety and sustainability". Together with photographer Márcio Nagano, the reporters toured mining facilities in two regions of Pará, addressing advances in safety in the face of the challenges of mineral production in the state.
