One of the priorities in the allocation of Amazon Fund resources for emergency actions will be the financing of security operations aimed at expelling illegal miners from the region where the Yanomami live, in Roraima. The announcement was made by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva, together with the German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development, Svenja Schulze, during a press conference on January 30th.

"These emergency actions are being dealt with at several levels, from the health issue, to the treatment of the serious hunger situation that is devastating these communities, to the security part", Marina Silva detailed.

During the press conference, the German minister announced the release of about 200 million Euros to be invested in environmental actions in Brazil within 100 days. This total amount includes 35 million euros (more than 193 million reais) for the Amazon Fund and 31 million euros to support Amazonian states that want to develop projects for the protection and sustainable use of forests.

The remaining resources announced by the German government should be applied in other initiatives that include: 29.5 million euros in support of a guarantee fund for energy efficiency for small and medium enterprises, with direct contribution to private investments in energy efficiency; and 5.37 million euros in a consulting project to promote renewable energy in industry and the transport sector.

There are also 13.1 million to be spent on a project to support small farmers in the reforestation of their land, 80 million euros in offering low-interest credit lines to farmers, and 9 million euros in support of sustainable supply chains.
